St. Anne’s are working towards its very first Active Schools Flag. The Active Schools Flag is a Department of Education initiative.

This flag recognises schools that “strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community”.  If you would like to find out more about the Active Schools Flag, please visit the website

We have introduced lots of new fun activities like – ‘ D.E.A.D – Drop Everything And Dance’, a ‘running club’ on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays,  ‘Fitness Fridays’ and  ‘Buddy Thursday’.

During our running club, we are training for our upcoming 5km Fun Run and the GLO Health Mile Challenge.

We are all having so much fun and becoming fit and healthy!

We recently elected an Active Schools Flag Committee. The Committee is as follows:

Nancy Henry, Maureen Quinn, Zara Glynn, Emily Flynn, Stephanie Haynes, Carla Connolly, Rebecca Shelley, Sinead Shriane, Sadhbh Kilcommons, Michaela O’ Flanagan

Our Active Schools Motto is as follows:

Jump, skip, hop and run.

Just be active,

Have some fun.

Run around, touch the sky.

Go down low,

Jump up high.

Congratulations to Sinead Shriane who was the winner of the Active Schools Flag Motto .

Our Physical Education for January and February has been hip hop dance with Tricia Mc Dermott.
